A: It is something I've always wanted to do! As a mother of three and a former elementary school teacher I've read a ton of picture books. It was- and still is -one of the best parts of my day. When you find a great book and share it with a child it can light up their life... and yours too!
A: I started reading to my own kids from the time they were babies. I also introduced them to music, taking them to toddler music classes and concerts, and always playing music in the car and in the house. I find that music and books are so similar; they both help us connect with each other, either through lyrics or text. My love for music helped me create this book,
A: Yes, my mother's name was Margaret. She passed away 10 years ago. My love of music came from my mother. Maggie's name is in her honor. The books release date June 25, is my mother's birthday. What a great way to celebrate her!
A: I am a believer in one day at a time. However, I enjoy writing so much that I think I will write more books in the future.
A: To begin with, the title alone- When I Grow Up, I Want to be a Song!-is an attraction. The music theme carries the readers throughout the book. Children love the song-like rhyme of the book, and parents smile at the recognizable song titles placed seamlessly throughout the story.
A: I hope it teaches children that they don't have to figure things out all at once. They have choices. If they take one day at a time and have fun enjoying the journey, they don't need to worry about the destination, it will come to them in time. I also hope it entertains the children and instills in them a love and appreciation for music.
